The short version
Born in Texas, raised in Colorado, Marine Corps at eighteen.
The Marine Corps brought me to San Diego and I never left. I got a business degree afterwards and spent a while doing work I did not care about.
Then I adopted a dog who was tied to a pole at the beach.
He got harder as he got older. Kicked out of multiple daycares. Training facilities would not take his case. The experts all pointed one direction and I was not doing it.
So I learned to train him myself, enrolled at Animal Behavior College, and found the thing I actually wanted to do. That dog is the reason In Line K9 exists, and the reason I take the cases other people pass on.
I refused to allow my dog to be put down and on the verge of giving up I finally decided who better to train him than myself.
Your dog does not need more commands. Your relationship needs better communication.
How I train.
Balanced, which means tools are picked for the dog in front of me rather than ruled in or out by category. Anything I use has to be humane, appropriate for that specific dog, and genuinely useful. If a tool is not right for your dog, I do not use it.
Plenty of trainers here advertise a list of things they will never do. I am not going to pretend a rule written before meeting your dog is the same as judgment. What I will do is explain the whole method before training starts, so you can decide before any money changes hands.
If you want a purely positive only program, I am not the right trainer and I will say so on the call. There are good people in San Diego who do that work.
What I will not do.
No protection work, no bite sport, no service dog tasks. Those deserve specialists, which is not me. My work is behavior: reactivity, aggression, anxiety, obedience, and puppies who should not become any of the above.
