1. What information do we collect?
Personal information you disclose to us
In short: we collect the information you give us.
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you fill in a form on our site, complete our dog training assessment, book a call, or otherwise contact us. Depending on which of those you use, that may include:
- Your first and last name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The area of San Diego you are in, usually as a postal code
- Information about your dog, including age, breed, behavior, training history, and any history of biting
- What you have already tried, when you want to start, and other answers you give on our forms
- Anything else you choose to write in a free text field
We do not collect payment information through this website. We do not ask for and do not want government identification numbers, financial account numbers, or health information about you.
Information automatically collected
In short: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, as every website host does.
When you visit our site, our hosting provider automatically records technical information including your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested, and the date and time. This is standard server logging, it is used for security and reliability, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
Our forms use an automated bot detection service to stop spam submissions. That service receives technical signals from your browser in order to tell a person from a script. It does not receive what you typed into the form.
2. How do we process your information?
In short: to answer you, to run the training process, and for nothing else.
- To respond to your inquiry and contact you about your dog
- To schedule, confirm, and remind you about calls and appointments
- To prepare for a consultation, so we arrive knowing your dog's history
- To deliver and keep records of a training program if you become a client
- To send you follow up messages about your inquiry, which you can stop at any time
- To keep our website secure and to prevent fraud and spam
- To comply with our legal obligations
3. When and with whom do we share your information?
In short: only with the service providers who help us run the business, and never with anyone who wants to sell you something.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We share it only with third parties who process it on our behalf so that we can operate, and only as much as they need. Those fall into these categories:
- Website hosting. The company that serves this website and holds its server logs.
- Customer relationship and scheduling platform. The system that holds your inquiry, our notes about your dog, our booking calendar, and the emails and texts we send you.
- Bot protection. The service that checks form submissions are made by a person rather than a script.
- Email and text message delivery. The providers that carry our messages to you.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, for example in response to a lawful request by public authorities, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate or prevent a violation of our terms, fraud, or a threat to the safety of any person or animal.
If the business is sold or transferred, information may transfer with it as a business asset. If that happens, this notice continues to apply until it is replaced by one you are told about.
4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?
In short: our own pages set no cookies at all. Some embedded tools set their own.
As of the date at the top of this notice, the pages of this website do not set any cookies of their own and do not run any advertising or analytics trackers.
Some parts of the site, specifically our forms, assessment, and booking calendar, are provided by our customer relationship and scheduling platform and are displayed inside our pages. Those tools may set their own cookies or use similar technologies in order to function, for example to remember your progress through a form. They also load fonts from a third party font service.
If we add analytics or advertising tools in future, we will update this notice before or at the time we do so, and this section will say what they are and what they collect.
5. How long do we keep your information?
In short: as long as we need it, and no longer than the law requires.
We keep your information for as long as it is needed for the purposes in this notice, unless a longer period is required by law, for example for tax or accounting reasons. In practice:
- If you inquire and never become a client, we keep your inquiry so we can recognize you if you come back. You can ask us to delete it at any time and we will.
- If you become a client, we keep records of your dog's program for as long as we might reasonably need them, including for any lifetime support we have promised you.
When we no longer need your information, we delete it or anonymize it. If that is not immediately possible because it sits in a backup, we isolate it and stop using it until deletion is possible.
6. How do we keep your information safe?
In short: reasonable measures, and an honest statement of their limits.
We use reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect your information. This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to our customer records is restricted to the people who need it to do the work.
No method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise that your information will never be accessed improperly. Transmitting information to us is done at your own risk, and you should only access our services in a secure environment.
7. Do we collect information from minors?
In short: no, and we do not knowingly want to.
Our services are not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you become aware that a child has given us personal information, contact us at inlinek9sd@gmail.com and we will delete it.
8. What are your privacy rights?
In short: you can see it, correct it, or have it deleted.
You may at any time ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- Delete what we hold, subject to any records we must keep by law
- Stop sending you marketing emails or text messages
To make any of these requests, email inlinek9sd@gmail.com or call (619) 776-5010. We will respond in line with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Opting out of marketing. You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails using the link in any of them, or reply STOP to a text message. We will still contact you about things you have asked us to do, such as confirming an appointment you booked.
9. Controls for do not track features
Most browsers include a do not track feature. No uniform technology standard for recognising it has been finalised, so we do not currently respond to do not track signals. If a standard is adopted, we will update this notice.
10. Do California residents have specific rights?
In short: yes, and we already operate as though everyone has them.
We are based in California and most of the people we work with are California residents. If you are one, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not collect or process sensitive personal information as that term is defined by the CCPA.
To exercise any of these rights, email inlinek9sd@gmail.com or call (619) 776-5010. We may need to verify your identity before we act, which normally means confirming details that match what we already hold. You may use an authorized agent, in which case we may ask for proof of their authority.
California's "Shine The Light" law also permits California residents to request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for direct marketing purposes. We do not make such disclosures.
11. Text messages and SMS
In short: you opt in, you can opt out at any time, and your consent is never shared with anyone.
If you give your phone number and check the consent box on one of our forms, we may send you text messages about your inquiry, your appointment, or your dog's program. Depending on which box you checked, that may include appointment confirmations and reminders, or promotional messages.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can work with us without agreeing to text messages.
- Message frequency varies depending on where you are in the process.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us using the details below.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your mobile information and SMS consent will not be shared or sold to any third party or affiliate for their own marketing purposes. The only parties who handle your phone number are the service providers who deliver our messages on our behalf, described in section 3.
12. Do we make updates to this notice?
In short: yes, when the law or what we do changes.
We may update this notice from time to time. The updated version will be marked by a revised date at the top of this page and takes effect as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes, we will notify you either by prominently posting a notice or by contacting you directly.
13. How can you contact us about this notice?
Email inlinek9sd@gmail.com or call (619) 776-5010. We are In Line K9, operating in San Diego, California, United States.
14. How can you review, update, or delete your data?
You have the right to request access to the personal information we collect from you, to change that information, or to delete it. To do so, email inlinek9sd@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy request", or call us. Say what you would like us to do and give us enough detail to find your record.
